Cobalt prices stage dramatic rally as battery demand and supply chain issues push cobalt hydroxide up 65.5% year-to-date

The cobalt market has kicked off 2021 in spectacular fashion, with substantial price increases observed across the supply chain, particularly for battery-focused chemicals and feedstocks.

According to the February 2021 issue of Benchmark's Cobalt Price Assessment, cobalt hydroxide prices have surged by 65.5% YTD, whilst cobalt sulphate and metal prices have increased 56.1% and 42.4% YTD respectively.

Cobalt prices are now at their highest point since Q3 2018 with sulphate and metal recording their greatest average monthly increase in Benchmark’s February Cobalt Price Assessment.
