Silicon Valley supply deals with LG Chem, Samsung SDI mark EV shift towards cylindrical cells

The pure electric vehicle (EV) industry has made a significant stride towards favouring cylindrical cells after LG Chem and Samsung SDI signed long term supply deals with Silicon Valley developers, Lucid Motors and Faraday Future.
Both supply deals specify that cylindrical cells will be used in the new pure EVs rather than the traditional prismatic cells that both battery majors are known for supplying. The vehicles will be in production Q4 2018. The deals also cite a new chemistry . . .
