Gotion targets 100 GWh overseas cell expansion as it launches German battery pack plant

Chinese battery maker Gotion High-Tech said it wants to have a third of its production capacity outside China by 2025, as it launched a battery pack plant in Germany.

The Volkswagen-backed producer said it aimed to have 100 gigawatt-hours of cell production outside of China by 2025, out of a total of 300 GWh.

The announcement came as Gotion opened a battery plant in Germany this week that will assemble lithium iron phosphate battery packs, for use in home energy storage as well as vehicles. With a planned pack production capacity of 18 GWh, Gotion will initially . . .
