There has not been a new flake graphite mine in North America since the Lac des Illes operation in Quebec opened its doors in 1989.

A generation away, the world has changed significantly. China has become the dominant force shaping the flake graphite supply landscape yet new suppliers with differing strategies are for the first time challenging this superiority.
