President Magufuli’s Tanzania take hard-line wealth redistribution approach to mining industry

A presidential sized shadow has been cast over Tanzania’s mining industry after the country’s head of state, John Magufuli, decided to overhaul its mining industry in a bid to redistribute wealth around throughout country.
Tanzania has passed three supplement bills to the Mining Act of 2010 that has been described as “contrary to encouraging mining investment” and “of serious concern to all mining investment related activity in Tanzania” by Australian graphite developer, Walkabout Resources.
