Benchmark Launches Coverage of Ten New Critical Mineral Markets
14th October 2026
Today, Benchmark announces the launch of ten new critical mineral market services, compromising strategic minor metals, ferro-alloys and defence materials:
Tungsten, Titanium, Uranium, Molybdenum, Vanadium, Silicon Metal, Gallium, Germanium, Boron and Zinc.
This marks one of the largest expansions of Benchmark's coverage since the company's inception, taking our research beyond the battery supply chain and into materials underpinning national security, energy and advanced manufacturing.
Each of the ten new markets have been handpicked in response to in-depth industry consultation, and to build upon our existing forecasting and analysis methodologies.
Benchmark CEO, Andrew Miller, shared:
"We’re delighted to announce Benchmark’s expansion into a wider set of critical mineral markets, advancing our goal of delivering comprehensive pricing, data and intelligence across the supply chains shaping the global economy.
"By broadening our coverage of these increasingly interconnected markets, we’re giving clients a more complete picture of the forces driving change across strategic industries.
"Critical minerals are no longer simply industrial raw materials. They are strategic assets at the heart of global economic competition, energy security and geopolitical influence. Independent, trusted intelligence has never been more important in navigating these rapidly evolving markets."
Built upon the robust foundation of Benchmark's existing datasets
Benchmark has selected opaque markets that are becoming increasingly politicised and important, as defence capabilities and supply chain security become paramount around the world.
These new services lend themselves to adjacent markets already covered by Benchmark, providing us with a well-established foundation for research expansion that upholds our world-leading data integrity.
Benchmark Head of Strategic Initiatives, Mike Finch, commented:
"We've taken the same approach as our existing overage, with the same world-leading data integrity. Subscribers can expect bottom-up research, country-level supply and demand modelling, with data verified by the people who actually produce and trade the material."
The spotlight on defence and energy security
Governments are now making procurement decisions on the basis of raw material supply. In titanium, most of the market is pigment, but the risk sits in the aerospace alloy segment, where supply has been reshaped by sanctions.
Uranium represents the energy security side. With nuclear build-out accelerating, Benchmark is well-placed to cover the fuel cycle, from mine through conversion and enrichment to reactor demand.
Finch shared: "Defence and energy security have effectively become the same conversations as raw material supply. Governments are making procurement decisions on that basis now."
